Carli Gumm was the 13th young woman to win the honor of being crowned Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen 2017. Born and raised in Minden, Nevada, Carli is a 16-year-old senior at Douglas High School.
Carli was first introduced to the Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization in 2010 when she signed up to be a Nevada State Princess. The Nevada State Princess program is a mentoring program for girls’ ages 5-12 years old that are mentored by Miss Nevada titleholders and see first-hand the job of a titleholder goes beyond just wearing a crown. This allowed Carli to view the crown as a destination, a dream she hoped to wear herself one day.
Carli is proud to wear the crown as Nevada’s Outstanding Teen, the first Nevada State Princess to win the state title. Carli knows that being a titleholder is a dream that one can begin working for at a young age. During her year of service, it is Carli’s goal to have a direct positive impact on the princesses who are being mentored in this program just like she was. While also expanding the number of participants – because there is no such thing as too many princesses!
As Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen, Carli will dedicate her year of service to the Nevada State Princess mentoring program, promoting her platform Project Linus: Providing Security through Blankets, supporting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital as their state ambassador, and showcasing the scholarship opportunities that are afforded to young girls through participation in this program all while being a full time student.
Furthermore, with big dreams of going to medical school, Carli will put her over $10,000 of college scholarship to good use. Carli wants young girls to know that the Miss America Scholarship Organization is the largest scholarship foundation in the world. Carli has not only earned over $10,000 in college scholarship but has been given multiple in-kind full tuition scholarships from colleges and universities around the country.
