Tia is the daughter of Tim and Lori Henderson of Sparks. She is a senior at Reed High School and plans to pursue a doctorate in sports physical therapy after high school. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and plans to continue with her love for the arts the rest of her life. She is currently on the high school varsity basketball team, varsity dance team, and varsity track team. In her spare time, Tia enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, hiking, playing soccer, and doing water sports.
Tia’s grandmother is the inspiration for Tia’s personal platform, Capabilities Despite Disabilities. Continuing her grandmother’s legacy of inclusion and acceptance for people with special needs, Tia has become involved with multiple organizations, including Best Buddies, Note-Ables Music Therapy Services, Special Olympics, and currently serves as the head of SONV Unified Sports high school programs in Northern Nevada. In addition to her passion for serving individuals with disabilities, Tia also serves as a statewide ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, raising funds for children’s hospitals, medical research, and community awareness of children’s health issues.
