Bailey Gumm

Bailey Gumm, born and raised Nevadan, is a 20 year old senior at Westminster College. She is majoring in communication with a minor in political science; with hope to one day become a press secretary in politics/governmental affairs.

At the Miss Nevada pageant Bailey was the recipient of the Miss America Community Service award for her platform work: “Autism through a different Lens”. Her younger brother was diagnosed with autism at 22 months old and Bailey has seen through a sister’s eyes the effects of autism not only on the child, but on the family as well. “Being the sibling of a child with special needs is one of the most remarkable and rewarding roles anyone could ask for.” Along with being a sibling advocate for Autism Speaks, Bailey serves as a board member for the Autism Coalition of Nevada. As a sister Bailey is given a powerful role combined with education about autism and personal experience that allows her to be an influential part in the autism acceptance narrative.

As Miss Nevada, Gumm will work as the state ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and mentor to young girls though the Nevada State Princess mentorship program.
Being involved in the Miss Nevada Organization has changed Bailey’s life by allowing her create change in her community, state and nation while shedding light on an issue that has so drastically impacted her family. In addition, Bailey has been provided scholarships that are funding her educational goals.
