Randi Sundquist was crowned Miss Nevada on July 3, 2012. She spent the year of her reign traveling the state and utilizing her title to promote her personal platform entitled, preventing youth violence and bullying. As a former victim of bullying, Sundquist can attest that its affect is long lasting and through appearances and speaking engagements, she intends to show individuals of all ages that bullying is not only a growing problem in society, but that victims of this abuse can persevere and go on to accomplish amazing things.
She is currently a spokesperson for “Flip the Script,” a statewide campaign launched by R & R Partners in Las Vegas, aimed at reducing the incidents of bullying and supporting legislation for the cause. Sundquist participates in numerous school events, which encourage students to take the pledge to become an anti-bully and promote implementation of “Flip the Script” in their respective schools. She serves as a positive role model to today’s youth by encouraging them to be the solution, rather than instigators of bullying.
Sundquist is a native of Elko, Nev., and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a degree in journalism and media studies. She was a member of the nationally ranked Idaho State University Bengal dancers before transferring to UNLV. A devout Christian, she relies on her strong faith, something that has helped her overcome tough obstacles in her life and also celebrate the many blessings she has received.
Sundquist began competing in the Miss America system to gain scholarship money for college but gained much more throughout her journey. The organization has challenged her in many ways and has pushed her in all aspect of life. During her third attempt she captured the crown of Miss Nevada, a goal she had been working towards for many years.
