EDUCATION:     Sophomore at University of Nevada – Reno majoring in Music and Dramatics
    Plans to obtain masters in music and pursue a professional singing career
TALENT:  Classical Operatic Aria from “La Boheme”
  • Selected for the 1969 Miss America – USO Tour.  A 22-day tour of military installations in Vietnam.
  • From Utah but moved to Reno prior to competing for Miss Nevada.  Lived with her vocal coach/mentor Ted Puffer and his wife while studying at the University of Nevada.  Ted was the Director of the Nevada Opera Guild
  • Had trouble fundraising due to the fact she wasn’t from Nevada. But she was a full time student for one year at the University of Nevada – Reno before competing for Miss Nevada
  • Asked to perform at the Miss Oregon Pageant
  • Was asked whether she thought her very early decision to become a singer had been detrimental or advantageous and her answer “I feel it had been beneficial in that I had always studied and worked toward that end.”

  • 1st RU – $500 Venture club scholarship, 2nd RU – $300 scholarship from state organization, 3rd RU – $100 scholarship from First National Bank, 4th RU – $100 scholarship from Security National Bank, Miss Congeniality – $250 scholarship from Harolds Club
