The National Sweetheart Pageant occurs over Labor Day Weekend in Hoopeston, Illinois and allows runners-up from state pageants to compete for the title of Miss National Sweetheart. Though the National Sweetheart Pageant has no official affiliation to the Miss America Organization, the competition is structured very much like Miss America and is judged by experienced Miss America judges. Winning this title does not guarantee that a contestant will then win a state title, but many have become titleholders who went on to compete in Atlantic City/Las Vegas and some have won the Miss America Pageant.
